As you’ve seen from my blog about getting my pre-baby body back, as well as the list of cult-favorite LA spots for those who like to eat healthy, you know I love a great smoothie. Of course, however, smoothies on their own aren’t going to work magic – there are plenty of other things that you can do to improve your health in addition to the smoothies, so I wanted to share some of my favorites in this post!

CryoTherapy

One popular way to improve health, if you’re tough enough, is through cryotherapy. If you’re not familiar, cryotherapy is spending time in a booth with freezing or near-freezing temperatures, usually for about 3-5 minutes. Since it’s relatively new, research is still being done to prove its benefits, but many claim that it provides pain relief, helps muscles heal, increases metabolism, preventing dementia, reducing inflammation, reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety, decreasing exzema symptoms, preventing and treating migraines and even cancer! With a list as long and appealing as that, it’s worth a shot, even for a fraction of those results – just make sure you check with a doctor first to make sure it’s safe for you.

Infrared Sauna

You might have read the word “sauna” and thought I was going from an extremely cold suggestion to an extremely hot one, but that’s not exactly the case. While regular saunas have a plethora of positive outcomes, many have a difficult time with heat and hot environments, making them not a viable option. That’s where infrared saunas come in. Instead of using heat to work their “magic,” they use panels with infrared lamps that use electromagnetic radiation to warm your body, which means the overall temperature can be 30-60 degrees cooler than a traditional sauna, and some say that more heat penetrates our bodies in the infrared version, making them more efficient and effective. Some benefits that go along with these saunas include relaxation, better sleep, weight loss, help against chronic fatigue syndrome, better skin and circulation, relief from joint and muscle pain, and detoxification. Again, of course check with a doctor before you try it to make sure it’s right for you!

IV Drips

While a good smoothie has a ton of nutrients, it isn’t a complete source of the nutrition we need. Of course, to make it affordable and still delicious, some things need to be left out. And even if we eat a healthy diet alongside these smoothies, there can still be vitamin deficiencies. Additionally, you could have some dehydration from traveling, working out, or even a hangover. IV Drips combine electrolytes with a special cocktail of nutrients depending on each person’s needs, and give those who get them a jumpstart back to health, or a boost if they need it, and can be done in clinics, or eve with services like dripivtherapies.com which will come to you for a treatment in the LA area!

Lightstim

Anyone who’s experienced feeling tired or sad from a cloudy week (or lived in a poorly-lit home) knows the impact light has on so many aspects of our lives. That’s where Lightstim comes in. It’s the usage of LED lights to treat a variety of ailments, from those with our skin (such as wrinkles and acne) to pain, anxiety, and depression. Treatments can be done by professionals at various facilities, but there are also a wide range of at-home devices that are tailored to each specific need, and can be used to deliver treatment on-the-go, from smaller handheld devices around $150 all the way to a $65,000 lightstim bed!

Hormone Optimization

Our hormones control so much of us – how we look, how we feel, how we metabolize food, and more. With that in mind, it makes so much sense that we use science and knowledge to our benefits to make some tweaks if necessary to positively impact our health. With hormone optimization, pellets containing hormones are selected based upon their need/want and then implanted under the skin. This can help with pain, treatment of skin issues, mood, metabolism, and more. Of course, a consultation with a doctor is required here to make sure this is appropriate!
